How Can swelling And Bruises In The Knee Be Treated?

I fell on the front of my left leg two weeks ago. I had an x=ray the day it happened, and everything checked out ok. Below the knee is still swollen a bit and I have noticed some small bruising down the front of my leg. Below the knee is somewhat numb to the touch. if I apply pressure to the center below the knee, the pain is pretty intense.

Hello,
Thanks for trusting Healthcaremagic!
I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.

All the symptoms you have mentioned suggest the possibility of hematoma. It is nothing but a collection of blood under the tissues following a blunt trauma.
You don't need to worry regarding this as your X-ray is clean and no fractures are detected.
You can try the following as a first line management.
(1)- You can take simple analgesics like ibuprofen or diclofenac for pain.
(2)- Apply ice packs over the affected area,it would provide symptomatic relief and fasten the recovery.
(3)- Immobilize the knee for few days, complete bed rest is better.
Most cases resolve with in few days,if symptoms persist despite all these an orthopedic consultation is recommended.

Hope I have answered your query.
Regards.
